You’ll come away with specific strategies that you can use as soon as your baby is born. You’ll also be provided with resources to take home.

Client Testimonial

Lisa provided ASL services to a home daycare provider. Check out these kind words from Carolyn:

How many ASL teachers does it take to teach a Newfie ASL? One, if her name is Lisa Garrett, this girl had the patience of a saint, she is the kindest, most patient person I have ever met. My fingers wouldn’t stay or go where they were suppose to, my favourite sign is “again”, And Lisa would do it again and again, making sure I got it. Lisa is also very passionate about ASL and you can tell the moment you meet her. Thank you so much and I wish you the best of luck, Lisa.

Sincerely,
Carolyn Wheaton-Roy

Announcing Baby Sign Language Classes

Black Bear Healing Home is pleased to announce that Lisa is now a certified instructor with My Smart Hands. She will be teaching ASL classes to babies and their caregivers throughout Lanark County. The first session of classes will be held in Carleton Place. Stay tuned for dates.

Check out this video to see a signing baby in action.

My Smart Hands classes use 100% American Sign Language and include a signing manual for you to take home. Sign language allows babies to communicate with you, reducing your frustration and theirs. When your baby signs their first sign to you and you know exactly what it is they want, you will be amazed. Signing with your baby can provide a bonding experience that needs to be felt in order to be believed. ASL is also a language, and using American Sign Language with your baby means that you are giving your hearing child the gift of an additional language. Signing is for everyone! Sign early and sign often.

If you would like to be added to the ongoing wait list, phone Lisa at 613-558-3199 or email Lisa@BlackBearHealingHome.com.
