Sign and Swing! on July 23

On Saturday, July 23 Black Bear Healing Home will be hosting the next free session of Sign and Swing! from 6pm-7pm at The Yellow Park in Carleton Place (intersection of Bridge Street and Thomas Street).

ASL Circle Time will begin at 6:15pm. We’ll start by reading Milk and Cookies, a story about a young bear who visits his grandparents, sees dragons in the night, and eats milk and cookies.Milk and cookies a Frank Asch Bear Story

We’ll sign Old MacDonald Had a Farm and learn some farm animal signs. Then we’ll practice signing our numbers from 1 to 20. After that there will be time for questions and discussion on the topic of ASL and signing at home. And of course the swings, play structure, and large open space will be available for free play before and after the workshop (and during, for those who prefer swinging to signing).

Weather permitting… it’s just too hard to read a book in the rain! If you’re wondering whether or not the group will be running, you can call or text Lisa at 613-558-3199. Cancellations will also be posted on Black Bear Healing Home’s blog.

All ages, all ASL levels, all welcome. Hope to see you there!
